Staycation Ideas in the Eastern U.S.

The pandemic is ongoing and while certain restrictions are lifting, we are all looking forward to stepping out of our stay-at-home bubble…albeit safely.

But does that mean it’s a good idea to travel freely? Some say yes, and others are still hesitating. Either way, do check local and international COVID and safety guidelines before traveling.

With that in mind, perhaps this is the perfect time to consider these staycation ideas in the Eastern U.S.?

What is a staycation?

It’s a vacation spent home or nearby, often times a road trip away, a short break, rather than a long-haul flight for an international destination.

For those who live in the United States, we definitely have the advantage of 50 states and thousands of possibilities. The fact is that America is home to some of the most spectacular natural beauty in the world.

Maine

Maine is the northeasternmost state in the U.S. Travelers visit here for its rocky coastline, maritime history, and nature areas like the granite and spruce islands of Acadia National Park.

You can also check wildlife sightings off of your staycation bucket list as moose sightings are plentiful in Baxter State Park, home to Mt. Katahdin, the endpoint of the Appalachian Trail.

Lighthouses such as the candy-striped beacon at West Quoddy Head, dot the coast, as do lobster shacks and sandy beaches like Ogunquit and Old Orchard.
