What’s the airport like? What do you need to know about the route to get there? Are you aware of the parking? All of these things will help you to know more about the airport and it will prevent you from wasting time trying to find parking and pay for parking the morning of the flight. You want to be there early, with enough time to find your way around to the gate. Timing is important, hence the watch!

Plan your time at the airport.

If you know you’ll want to eat at the airport, then make sure that you know where the restaurants are and whether they are close by to the gate you need to go through. You can also map out the toilets and the luggage areas so that you can be in the right places at the right times. It should be smooth sailing to get you through an airport and onto the flight in one piece.

Get your paperwork ready.

You should make sure that you have your passport, any visas and entry paperwork, hotel information, and ID ready in a folder. Doing this will give you easy access to everything once you get to the airport and then there’s no messing around; you’ll find everything you need with ease and no panic!

Don’t forget your travel insurance.

If you’re going to be going abroad and bringing luggage, you need travel insurance to be sure that you are covered if something is going to go wrong. Travel insurance should also include medical insurance and this way you’ll be safe if you have an accident while you’re away.

Check for any necessary vaccines.

Depending on where you are in the world, you may need vaccinations to be in that specific country. There are some places that won’t let you leave the plane without the right vaccines so it’s vital that you are covered. Proof of immunization will matter, especially in a post-pandemic world. There’s no use trying to fly if you know that the specific country is a no-go zone without the vaccines.

Got meds?

Are you flying with medications at all? If you are, then you need to get these filled before you fly. You don’t want to be caught out abroad, but equally, ensure that you fly with a doctor’s note. The doctor can tell your airline that you are safe to fly with those specific medications, so you won’t have them taken off you at the security desk.

Set the alarm.

The night before your flight, you need to set your alarm. Even if you’re flying in the afternoon, you have to be at the airport a couple of hours before you go, and that will mean leaving a couple of hours before that so you don’t get stuck in traffic. You want this to be as easy as possible, and that means leaving at the dawning of the day if necessary!

Don’t forget your travel money!

If you’re going somewhere that doesn’t carry your current currency, then you need to get your money changed over at the exchange. You can use a range of travel cards, too, such as the Revolut which will give you somewhere to put your cash and instantly transfer it. You can also connect it to your bank, so if you’re short on cash you can instantly access more as you need it. This is so important for your break away!
