Flight Attendant
Being a flight attendant is probably one of the most enjoyable ways to see the world and make some money at the same time. You’ll get a chance to stop over in different cities, and although you won’t always have a lot of time there, you should – if you plan things carefully – be able to explore at least a little.
Plus, you’ll get benefits such as discounted flights so that when you have time off, you can go traveling on your own time for less money.
However, flight attendants work a lot of hours, and it’s hard work too. You need to be able to work well with people, so being good at customer service is a definite bonus.
Travel Writer
Staring your career as a full-time travel writer is difficult, once you have made more of a name for yourself, you can get paid to travel all around the world and write about it.
If writing is something you would do anyway, then you truly are blessed because you have a job that not only allows you to see beautiful places but that you enjoy too. To get paid for your work is a definite bonus!
This kind of job will often begin as a part-time gig, or side hustle before you are able to make it your full-time job, but it is worth persevering.
Travel Agent
If you think that being a travel agent is all about watching other people go on vacation and not getting to go yourself, think again.
Firstly, you’ll have some hefty discounts in place for flights, hotels, even transfers so you can book a fantastic vacation for a fraction of what it would cost someone else.
Secondly, travel companies know that it’s all but impossible to sell something you’ve never experienced, which is why they offer trips to travel agency staff, free of charge or at highly discounted rates. This allows you to experience the planes, the hotels, and the resorts first-hand.
Au Pair
For those who love children as well as traveling, there can’t be a better career choice than au pair.
An au pair is someone who lives with a family in a foreign country and looks after the children. They might possibly do some household chores as well.
You’ll most likely need to speak a second language and be a qualified nanny, so ensure you have the necessary qualifications before going down this route.
Depending on the family, you may not have a vast amount of free time. However, it’s perfect if you want to totally immerse yourself in a new culture.
Teach English Abroad
Do you know how to speak English? Perfect! English teachers are highly sought after around the world — and the pay can be decent. Secure jobs teaching overseas, or even teaching classes online from your computer.
To qualify for careers in travel teaching English, a TEFL certification (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) is also required (these jobs include accommodation too).
