Family Vacation Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time

During Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party at Disney California Adventure Park, a new pulsing party will rock the Backlot area of Hollywood Land inspired by the popular “Descendants” franchise from Disney Channel. As the DescenDANCE begins, a spell is cast, summoning the greatest dance crew from the Isle of the Lost to throw down and lead everyone in moves that are set to the biggest hit songs from the “Descendants” movies. Once the DescenDANCE crew returns to their realm, the Backlot DJ continues to spin tunes that will make any “villain kid” proud, inviting everyone to step onto the dance floor into the night. Your Family Guide to Disneyland Halloween Time

The big question – when does Halloween time start at Disneyland? This year Disneyland Halloween Time will kick off September 6, 2019. That’s the earliest Disneyland has ever transformed into a trick-or-treater’s dream! Halloween Time will run through October 31, 2019, and there will be an all-new Halloween party this year. My friends from Get Away Today have all the details on Disneyland Halloween Time 2019, which I’ll share with you today.

Halloween Decor and Ride Overlays

During Halloween Time, Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park will undergo their yearly transformation into a spooky, family-friendly destination for thrills and chills. Characters don Halloween costumes, treats will feature all things pumpkin and decor throughout the Resort will be positively boo-tiful.

Some of your favorite rides in both parks during Halloween Time will have temporary overlays to give them a festive feeling, with minimal frights. Many of these changes will still be family-friendly.

Here’s a look at what you can expect at Disneyland Halloween Time:

In Cars Land, Radiator Springs will switch to Radiator Screams. Even the Cars characters will be in costume. Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween will feature new decor and themed music to celebrate the season, as will Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree.

Haunted Mansion Holiday will bring a Nightmare Before Christmas theme to this ride. You’ll be able to enjoy themes from the movie and spot characters like Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero and more.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will make a nightly transformation during Halloween Time. In the daylight, it will be the ride we know and love with its regular Marvel theme. In the evenings, it will become Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, and you will be on a mission with Rocket to rescue his best buddy Groot.

Space Mountain has been known to transform into its Ghost Galaxy counterpart during Halloween Time. Disney hasn’t yet confirmed that this will make an appearance for 2019, but I’ll be sure to update when I have more info! One thing I do know is that this overlay can be a little too spooky for younger kids. But you know your little ones best and can make the right choice when it comes to Halloween themes!

I mentioned before that Characters will be in costume during Disneyland Halloween Time, but did you know that Disney villains can also be found in the Resort? That’s right! Use the free Disneyland app to keep tabs on all your favorite characters in the Resort, both good and evil, and hunt them out for photos.

Iconic Main Street, U.S.A. will be peppered with pumpkins during Halloween Time, with the beloved, giant Mickey pumpkin on prominent display. The hand-carved pumpkins are always fun to check out and make for awesome photos.

Now here’s where it gets extra exciting! This year Disney is debuting a brand-new Halloween Time event in Disney California Adventure Park. The Oogie Boogie Bash – A Disney Halloween Party will be hosted on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday evenings beginning September 17th and concluding on October 31, 2019. And Disneyland Halloween Time tickets are on sale now… (you’re welcome!)

Here’s the inside scoop on your Disneyland Halloween Family Vacation, from Get Away Today:

Oogie Boogie Bash tickets are on sale now, and make note that the tickets are not general park admission tickets. With Bash tickets, you can enter Disney California Adventure Park up to four hours before the party start time, which is 6 pm.

If you are in Disney California Adventure Park on an Oogie Boogie Bash day, you need an event ticket to remain in the park 6 pm – 11 pm. If you have Park Hopper tickets and do not plan to attend the party, you can simply head over to Disneyland for the rest of the night. Oogie Boogie Bash tickets can be purchased directly from Disney only, via the link HERE.

New Attractions and Events During Oogie Boogie Bash

There will be all-new attractions and events to enjoy during Oogie Boogie Bash, in addition to a familiar favorite from previous years. Mickey’s Frightfully Fun Parade will make its way from Disneyland to Disney California Adventure Park, and you’ll be able to watch Disney Characters in masquerade. This parade was a big hit during the now-retired Mickey’s Halloween Party, so rest assured you’ll still be able to enjoy it during the Oogie Boogie Bash.

Are you ready to learn more about what is available at the Oogie Boogie Bash?

Villainous!

Lots of people are thrilled that World of Color recently returned to Disney California Adventure Park. During the Oogie Boogie Bash the World of Color water, light and projection show will have an exclusive Halloween overlay, featuring all the characters you love to hate.

Redwood Creek Challenge Trail

This trail is described as having a dreamlike overlay, with appearances by villains such as Ursula, Scar and the Queen of Hearts. This is not a trail I want to get lost on!

Immersive Trail Treats

The host of the Oogie Boogie Bash, Oogie Boogie himself, will be seen on this trail. The Mad Hatter is also on the guest list and may mingle among trick or treaters here.

Trick or Treating

The Oogie Boogie Bash wouldn’t be complete without the chance to trick or treat! You will be able to snag treats from cauldrons throughout Disney California Adventure Park.

DescenDance

The trilogy of popular Disney films based on the Descendants inspired this family-friendly dance party that will be located on the Backlot in California Adventure. Kids of all ages will learn moves inspired by the shows, and will enjoy music and projections from the franchise.

Mickey’s Trick & Treat: I haven’t seen any specifics regarding whether or not there will be candy at this live show, but I do know Mickey and friends can be found at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land during the Oogie Boogie Bash. They will be telling family-friendly, spooky stories on stage.

Carthay Circle: Much like other parts of the Resort, Carthay Circle will have a Halloween makeover. Bats will encircle the tower to give it a seasonal facade.

Character Encounters: Just like during all of Halloween Time, the Oogie Boogie Bash will feature Disney Characters and villains in costume.
