1. Packing Tips for Travel to Marrakech
Since we’re talking about staying in a hotel, it becomes really clumsy and messy when you pack all your stuff together in one big luggage. This is where packing cubes come in handy.
Pack your stuff in the best packing cubes and save more space in your hotel room. With this, simply remove the packing cubes from your luggage, keep them in a dresser drawer, and tuck away your luggage in a corner or under the bed. Packing cubes also offer more suitcase room, easy access, organization, and lesser wrinkles.
So, do not forget to pack your stuff in packing cubes when you go to Marrakech or any other place for that matter. You can also take them with you in the day and night trips that you take in Marrakech.
And, don’t worry about the costs of these tours since they are offered at affordable prices and at the same time present incredible views.
2. Can I travel alone safely to Marrakech?
Many women out there want an answer to this question amongst others. In fact, it is the very first question that comes to your mind when you plan to visit any new place. So, let me tell you that it is totally safe to visit Marrakech on your own even as a female.
Just like other cities around the globe, you just have to be a bit cautious when you do this since you can find every type of people anywhere. But, you shouldn’t get scared of this. After all, life begins outside your comfort zone.
Your gut feeling is the most trustworthy friend while traveling anywhere alone. Listen to it and be ready for several different situations in case you have to face them.
Pertaining to Marrakech particularly, men view women differently since it has an Arabic culture. This means if you are a white woman, you will get a lot of attention from men residing in Marrakech.
However, the attention is not unsafe. Just ignore the random names that men in Marrakech will call you in order to attract your interest. In all, there is nothing to worry about in Marrakech. You just need to be canny, confident, and assertive.
3. Places to visit in Marrakech
You can go on many fantastic day excursions as well as overnight trips in and from Marrakech. Obtain information about these expeditions from any of the tourist stalls situated in Jemaa el Fna, the Main Square. In fact, hotels also organize jaunts, so you can check this with the hotel you’re staying in.
When it comes to day trips, you should certainly take a journey to the Ouzoud Waterfalls, located in the Atlas Mountains. When here, you can hike as well as dive into the cool water of the waterfalls.
As for night jaunts, I would suggest the Sahara desert expedition. You can make it a one- or two-night trip. This trip lets you ride a camel, sleep while gazing at or counting the stars, and experience the mesmerizing sand dunes. The Oukira Valley is an amazing place here. Why? It gives you the thrill of seeing green oasis in a brown desert within one or two hours.
Marrakech offers many places where you can roam around and experience new things. The Arabic city will surely not let you down.
4. Walking around in Marrakech while being safe
Although Marrakech is a safe city to walk in, you should still be on your guard as you would be in any other city in the world. There are some tips that you should follow while traveling within Marrakech.
- Make sure that your handbag is always zipped up.
- Keep your handbag in front of your body whenever you can.
- Keep your money safely since you can be robbed off just like in any other destination.
- Be wary of scammers. For instance, when I traveled to Marrakech one man asked me where I was going and offered me to show the way himself. But, to my surprise, when I actually reached there, he asked for money just to show me the path. I had no option, so I had to pay him the money. Poor me!
The key, as I already mentioned before, is to stay confident about your moves. If someone offers to show you the path, respectfully say no.
5. Eating out in Marrakech
When in a new place, you should always savor the delicacies of that destination. In this case, it is Moroccan food, which is flowing with rich flavors, including yummy seasonings and spices. Do you know that Moroccan food is cooked in a different way?
And, this does not mean that Moroccan dishes are not nutritious or healthy, they are! Even if you are a vegan, you can get a lot of options in Marrakech, which means you do not have to break your ‘oath.’
In Marrakech, visit Jemaa el Fna, the Main Square to try exclusive Moroccan cuisines. And, do so at night since at that time the market is full of life and overflowing with appetizing aromas. Check out the various eating stalls in the market, each of whose owners will ask you to taste their food.
However, every stall has the same food, including tagines, skewers, traditional salads (for the health conscious ladies), and couscous. And, make sure when you eat the Moroccan food, follow the proper dining etiquettes. (It’s only a suggestion)
Marrakech Travel Tip: The meat here should be eaten with caution since its source is not known.
So, have fun in Marrakech all by yourself. Savor the unique Morrocan dishes, visit popular places, shop to your heart’s content, and be safe. All the best ladies! Go on, enjoy your trip to Marrakech. Bon Voyage!
