Mixology at Colorado Springs’ Cheyenne Mountain Resort

Dining is a sensory experience at Cheyenne Mountain Resort (CMR) in Colorado Springs, and one of the components of CMR’s dining experiences is mixology.

For those of you not familiar with mixology, it’s the art and science of mixing cocktails. CMR mixologists created some uber-fun cokktails, including Elderflower & Rosewater Martini, Tarragon Collins, Strawberry Sage CMRThaiBasilMargaritaCaipirinha, Soju & Sansho Lemonade, serving most of these at the Will Rogers Lounge.

My favorite, however, was a surprising combination of fresh basil and old school Margaritas, “Thai Basil Margarita.” Courtesy of CMR, you too can mix this fresh summer drink at home with the following recipe:

Thai Basil Margarita

3 oz. Thai basil sweet & sour mix * (recipe below)

1 1/2 oz premium silver tequila

3/4 oz. Bauchant

Shake all ingredients and strain over ice. Garnish with Thai basil leaves.

To make Thai basil sweet & sour mix, combine 1 cup sugarwith 1 cup hot water in a blender and mix slowly. Add 20 Thai basil leaves and blend until completely chopped. Mix with 4 oz. fresh lemon juice and 4 ox. fresh lime juice. Chill overnight.

During your stay at Cheyenne Mountain Resort, you can choose from three distinctive restaurant venues: Will Rogers Lounge for bites and cocktails, Mountain View Restaurant’s Colorado fusion dishes and buffets, and dining with golf course views at the Pineview Restaurant. I blogged about Cheyenne Mountain resort’s dining experiences at Uptake.com.
